Gizmo Needs Your Help

Gizmo is a 5 month old male border collie who's leg was broken when his owner drove his truck over him, not noticing Gizmo was asleep beneath. The owner brought the pup into the vet to euthanize him, and the vet contacted Misty Creek, believing his life was worth saving.
We have chosen to give Gizmo a chance to find the forever home he deserves, and are now fundraising for the cost of surgery to save his leg.

Our vet bill is $1260.

May 20, 2009 - Update

Gizmo is doing well, starting to stand on the leg and not showing signs of pain. The fracture was a long spiral of the femur with a major slab fragment. It was repaired with an intramedular pin and 7 cerclage wires, see the x-rays below.

May 27, 2009 - Update
Unfortunately, Gizmo has to go back in for another surgery. The rod has moved and needs to be repositioned.

June 17, 2009 - Update
Gizmo went back for his second surgery and had the rod in his leg shortened. We picked him up and brought him back to the shelter, a day later his stitches ripped and he had to go back in again for re-stitching and be put on antibiotics. He is doing great now and is starting to use his leg.
